President of the Kurdistan Region
Congratulates Sanandaj’s Recognition as the UNESCO Creative City of Music

Posting a congratulatory message on his Instagram account, Nechirvan Barzani, the President of the Kurdistan Region, congratulated the people of Sanandaj and Sulaymaniyah on the two cities’ designation as UNESCO Creative Cities. Sanandaj and Sulaimaniyah were designated by UNESCO as the Creative City of Music and the Creative City of Literature respectively.
In his message, maintaining that Sulaimaniyah’s recognition as the Creative City of Literature is a great honor and privilege, Barzani said, “I would also like to congratulate the artists and people of Sanandaj on its designation as the Creative City of Music.”

Sending a Congratulatory Message, Heshmatollah Seydi, the mayor of Sanandaj, Congratulated Citizens of Sanandaj and the Artistic Community on Sanandaj’s designated as a UNESCO Creative Music City

“Sanandaj is designated as the UNESCO Creative Music City in Rabi’ al-awwal, generating a great deal of excitement among the citizens, particularly the artists. Sanandaj’s selection as UNESCO Creative Music City is indeed a significant cultural event and today is a memorable day across the region’s history of art and culture. Art and artists have always enjoyed a high status amongst all the citizens of Sanandaj, and the designated of Sanandaj’s music in UNESCO’s list can also be the best proof of that. Sanandaj’s designated in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) can help boost tourism and also develop cultural and artistic products and consequently will lead to the city’s economic growth and prosperity. We are truly delighted that the artists and officials’ constant efforts paid off and we were able to add another honor to this region’s artistic achievements. I would like to express my thanks to all the officials and artists who helped us in the municipality accomplish this significant global achievement. خبر مسرت بخش ثبت جهانی سنندج بعنوان شهر خلاق موسیقی در یونسکو در ماه ربیع الاول موجب شور و شعف فراوان در بین شهروندان بویژه هنرمندان گردید.
بی شک ثبت هنر فاخر موسیقی این شهر در یونسکو یکی از مهم ترین رویدادهای فرهنگی است وامروز یکی از روزهای ماندگاردر تاریخ فرهنگ وهنر این دیار است.
هنر و هنرمند همواره از جایگاه والا و ارشمندی در بین همه شهروندان سنندجی برخوردار بوده وثبت جهانی هنر موسیقی هم می تواند بهترین گواه بر این امر باشد.
قطعاً پیوستن سنندج به شبکه شهر های خلاق موسیقی می تواند در توسعه پایدار صنعت گردشگری و جذب گردشگر و همچنین در توسعه تولیدات محصولات فرهنگی و هنری و به تبع آن رشد وشکوفایی اقتصاد این شهر تاثیر بسزایی داشته باشد.
بسیار خرسندیم که تلاش شبانه روزی جمعی از هنرمندان ومسولان فرهنگی استان امروز به ثمر نشست و توانستیم برگ زرین دیگر بر افتخار هنر این دیار بیفزاییم .

UNESCO designates 66 new Creative Cities

UNESCO designates 66 new Creative Cities

This 30 October 2019, 66 cities have been designated as UNESCO Creative Cities by the Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay. As laboratories of ideas and innovative practices, the UNESCO Creative Cities bring a tangible contribution to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals through innovative thinking and action. Through their commitment, cities are championing sustainable development actions that directly benefit communities at urban level.
“All over the world, these cities, each in its way, make culture the pillar, not an accessory, of their strategy,” says UNESCO Director-General Audrey Azoulay. “This favours political and social innovation and is particularly important for the young generations.”

The Kurdish Singer to Sing for World Peace at Tallinn Festival

Sadullah Nasiri, a well-known Kurdish singer, attends Tallinn Festival -one of the most important musical events in Europe- as the only Iranian representative.
At a press conference in Kurdistan, Sadullah Nasiri said, “Tallinn Festival is a festival in which no audio system is used, and therefore, the audiences can hear the singers’ voices without any change.” He added, “I attend the festival as the only Iranian representative, and I will sing pieces from ancient Kolyaei, Hawrāmān, and Kalhor music.” Sadullah Nasiri maintained that making peace and eradicating violence all over the world are considered as his main concerns. He stated, “I have chosen “Rumi and Peace” as my slogan in my latest concert.”
